The Bone Sparrow
The Bone Sparrow by Zana Fraillon is a tragic book that brings to light the problems of immigration and people fleeing war, poverty and the problems it creates. While all the characters and the settings of this book are fictional the policies that are inflicted on the people in detention centers are all true. The purpose of this book is to raise awareness of people in detention centers and the people who are fleeing from war and poverty and are being denied a home. It also shows us the horrible conditions in which these people live in. It is also a book about friendship and how people can be torn apart by suffering. This book brings to life the desperate characters that are trying to escape the detention center and build a new life for themselves. This book is a gripping reminder of the horrors of reality and not all life being a dream. And if anything, this book is telling us how lucky we are to have freedom and protection.
