Charlotte - Rook, not WW, Oxford High School
A raw, believable, touching tale of brotherhood and growing up, Rook gently explores what it means to start making decisions for yourself. When Nicky and his younger brother Kenny rescue an injured rook, little do they know, but they have begun a new chapter of change in their lives. Kenny believes love and affection alone will keep the bird alive but Nicky is more sceptical. Kenny has learning difficulties, and at school it is up to Nicky to face the bullies. But one day things go too far... The plot is short and simple, but it is the sweet relationships and lessons learnt which made this book special for me.
