Beyond the Bright Sea

Crow was pushed out to sea as a baby in a barley seaworthy skiff and was found by Osh who took her in and raised her like his own but when an unexpected fire appears across the sea on Penikese she begins to worry about where she came from.

Crow is seen as a self-conscious young girl who is not afraid to express herself and uses her past to shape her. She appreciates what Osh and Miss Maggie has done for her but is inquisitive about her heritage.

My favourite part of this book was when Crow decided that her name meant daughter and Osh's name meant father.
