People are still homophobic even today
Release is an awesome book. It really concentrates on the fact that Adam is a gay christian. His family are christian and choose to avoid the fact that their son is gay. Adam is still having trouble identifying his sexuality and Patrick Ness really focuses on the trouble's of growing up as a teenage boy, being gay.
Even though I loved the book, there were parts in it which were quite inappropriate. For example, sex between Adam and Linus was a bit full on and considering it was listed for a young adults book competition, it was a bit explicit. Also, the book was boring at times and I didn't really see the connection between the murder of the girl and Adam's story.
To conclude, I would rate this book a 3/5 for the reasons listed above.
