Salt to the Sea

Salt to the Sea is a heartbreaking piece of historical fiction about one of the world's most forgotten tragedies. It follows four young people, Joana, Florian, Emilia and Alfred, and switches between their perspectives. Normally four perspectives would be too many, but the author handles them really skilfully, which allows the reader to sympathise with every character. Salt to the Sea is gripping and a page-turner, and packed full of interesting detail about World War Two and the sinking of the Wilhelm Gustloff.
