Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

I found looking at this book a very interesting experience as I found that at times the Harry Potter films slightly manipulated my way of imagining the characters. I understand that this would have been a challenging project for the illustrator (Jim Kay) as they would have to ignore what the films are like and try and change what they imagine in their heads to make it original. I really like the jaunty and colourful way that this book has been illustrated and I really love the way that if a picture was featuring a certain character, the background, the clothes that they were wearing or the objects in the picture would tell you something about their character.
I would rate this book 9/10 as I was absolutely thrilled by it but my only criticism would be that I think the font size should have been bigger. I would recommend this book for 6 to 11 year olds as I think the pictures can be enjoyable to all ages but (I think) at about the age of 11 you grow out of the story. This book was definitely a success!
