The Bone Sparrow

This is a really amazing book, and truly deserving of the Amnesty award. The Bone Sparrow captures the essence of grief and hope, captivity and freedom. Subhi's story is really startling and somehow breathtaking. You are given a knowledge of the characters so deep that you hope and grieve with them. The reality of life in refugee camps is not so far away from us and our shielded, safe lives at all.
