The Bone Sparrow

The Bone Sparrow and Salt to The Sea are wonderful examples of quality historical fiction and I learnt much from them both. The pitiful lives of the Rohingyas people from young Subhi, born in a detention centre, in the Bone Sparrow and the forgotten story of the tragic loss of 9.000 lives on the Wilhelm Gustloff, sunk at the end of WW2 which was beautifully resurrected by Ruta Sepetys through the stories of Florian,Joana,Emilia and Alfred, and of course the wonderful Shoe Poet, in Salt to the Sea.
