In my opinion, this was one of the best books shortlisted for the Carnegie award. I felt that I could relate to Annabel and I thought it had a good plot. The characters and setting were well developed too. Despite having quite a sad ending, I really enjoyed this book.
This book is about a little village, isolated from anywhere else, named Wolf Hollow. When a nasty girl called Betty arrives, Annabelle's simple life suddenly changes. Toby, a misfit, is disliked by the village members, and when Betty disappears, all eyes turn on him. It is up to Annabelle to try to prove him innocent.
The only criticism I have is that I thought some of the characters, especially Betty, were slightly simple in that they were either good or bad. Betty always remained the same throughout the entire story which I found rather unlikely. I would recommend this book to anyone as it is definitely worth reading.
