Elouise, Book Chasers

The Stars at Oktober Bend

I really enjoyed this book because it was different. At the beginning of the book it takes time to get used to the lack of capital letters in Alice's chapters. However it became easier to read as Manny's chapters had capitalisation. The book was lyrical and moving. It showed courage and hope. The past is a mystery to the reader therefore the book keeps you reading on to find the answers. I would recommend this book to someone who likes mysteries. The author also uses poetry throughout the book to show connection between Manny and Alice because Alice writes poetry and Manny reads it. They're drawn together by Alice's poetry. I would recommend reading this. Even though it's hard to read at the beginning its worth it!
