The Smell of Other People's Houses
Bonnie-Sue Hitchcock has created a heart-warming and triumphant story full of interesting characters and plenty of twists and turns that some people can relate to. With love, tragedy and wild luck there is something for everyone.
The story is about four people, Dora, Ruth, Alyee and Hank, all come from very different backgrounds and families but they all have one thing in common ... Fairbanks. Fairbanks is a small town in 1970's Alaska which is home to Dora, Ruth and Alyee.
Dora wishes she was invisible. Ruth wants to be remembered. Alyee can't bring herself to leave. Hank is running away. When all these stories entangle new stories of friendship, love and trust begin to appear.
I really enjoyed this story because despite the fact you know the plot is fiction you can't help feeling for the characters throughout their sad yet triumphant lives. I simply could not put this book down. From page 1 you are entangled in a maze of lies, friendship, love and hope. I would definitely recommend this book and rate it 10/10.
