Ms G, Chobham Academy Book Group
An extraordinarily creative and imaginative story: what a brilliant mind Philip Reeve has, and what a strange, unique, but utterly believable world he has created, which I loved exploring. Unfortunately however, the story was all a bit too action-y for me, with so many characters and places to keep track of: I have to admit that I did skim-read the second half of the book because it's not quite my cup of tea. Sorry Philip. But I do think it would make a brilliant, if rather expensive, film.
(NB As a big Japan fan, I got very excited indeed about the train called 'Gentlemen take Polaroids'!)
