Salt to the Sea

Wow. Salt to the Sea left me literally speechless. It was so shocking and tragic, made all the more by the fact that it was based off true events.

The book follows four different characters as they attempt to board the Wilhelm Gustloff, an evacuation ship. They are all from very different backgrounds and are all haunted by their pasts. Without spoiling anything, there are many scenes of desperation and tragedy that often left me in tears.

However, I had never heard of the Wilhelm Gustloff before, which is why I think everyone should read Salt to the Sea. Not only that, it was incredibly well-written and a definite page turner. I loved this book!
