The Stars at Oktober Bend

The Stars at Oktober Bend is a beautifully written book which I really enjoyed. This was for two reasons- the way it was written (to show emotion) and the lovely and heart-warming story line. It was written as first person from two character's points of view (Alice and Manny) which added effect and makes the story line easier to follow. When Alice is writing, there are some obvious mistakes (e.g. no capital letters and using the wrong there/their). This was to empathise the fact that Alice had had a brain injury and was to re-learn everything. There is also a heart-warming plot of how Alice and Manny came together despite Alice's mental injuries and slight weirdness. Together they had to overcome other locals who would bully Alice and spread rumours about her as well as help her Grandmother who was slowly loosing all capability to do anything and escape from the sad memories of both of their pasts. I would really recommend this book as I think that it is well written and emotional.
