The Stars at Oktober Bend

I thought this book was very good. It had a very interesting story line. I like that it was written from two different peoples perspectives, Alice and Manny. Alice is a 15 year old girl who has suffered from a terrible accident causing her to have the mind of a 12 year old. This means that she can not talk very well and finds it hard to write. She has an older brother who looks out for her and makes sure that she is safe. When you are reading from Alice's perspective it is interesting because she does not use capital letters, this is effective because it relates back to her accident causing her to have brain damage. Manny has also had a hard life in his younger years. He lost his family to a war in Sierra Leone. He moves to England and is taken in by a family who looks after him. overall the book was very good and didn't get boring at any point. I think this book should be targeted at 13+ because it has some swear words but used in a way to make the story more effective.
