The Bone Sparrow

The Bone Sparrow
Zana Fraillon

Subhi is a member of the Rohingya people of Burma. He lives in a detention centre in Australia. He lives with his mother but he calls her Máá. He and his best friend Eli steal from the cupboard which all of the guards keep the supplies in. Nearly all of the guards are really horrible to the people who live there apart from a guard called Harvey.

The main characters are Eli, Subhi, his sister Queeny, his friend Jimmie and Máá his mother.

The story was written in the 1st person so that we get to see his point of view and his opinion on other people.

The setting was described in great detail so that I could imagine everything in my head the author had use sensory imagery.

After I had finished the book I felt sad because I wanted to hear more and what happens next
