Rhona, James Gillespie's Shadowers
Salt to the Sea
I found the book Salt To The Sea very good as it had an engaging plot. I liked the way it was four different peoples perspectives and they crossed eachother and linked up. I really liked how they all had secrets and they reveal parts of it throughout the book. I found it was cleverly written and it was definitely a good read! It was powerful in the way it was based on what actually happened. It was set in the winter time of the last year of the second world war and was based in Eastern Germany. It was sad at some parts to think about all the deaths in the book. The only critiscim for the book is that i found the end letter a little bit unclear but that isnt a bad thing. It was definitely my favourite book so far and will probably be my favourite for the whole of the Carnegie shorlist.
