Salt to the Sea
I had never read a WW2 book before I read 'Salt to the Sea' and was unaware what to expect, however this book was an amazing introduction to the genre. It mixed a tragic story with the features of a crime novel and I felt as if I was the detective while reading this story. Ruta Sepetys' characterisation is the best factor in this story and the plot was captivating. It focuses on 4 young refugees with dark and intriguing secrets. My only criticism is that the perspective swapping is confusing at the beginning of the story but this is debatable.
To summarise, I loved the book and I hope that the other books are as good as it!
