The Smell of Other People's Houses

A really enjoyable book set in the 1970's in Alaska. It is told by four people (Ruth, Dora, Hank and Alyce) and I really enjoy having different perspectives. I also really enjoyed how the stories became intertwined.

I liked the main characters in the book but I preferred some of the less major characters such as Dumpling. Ruth and Dora have both grown up without their own parents. Ruth has grown up with her Gran and Dora with Dumpling's family and Hank has grown up without a father.

The plot was really well thought out and key events happened throughout the book. I managed to guess how the book was going to end about half way through but I felt that that was a good thing and it was supposed to be like that.

I think that the book was very well written and has a good story line which made it an enjoyable read.
