Sputnik's Guide to Life on Earth
Although I really enjoyed this book, I don't think it is a contender for the Carnegie Medal as it is better suited to a younger age group. It was a fun read with a feel of The Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy about it and I enjoyed some of the scrapes that Prez and Sputnik get into. It had a real sense of family life and, despite the fact that Prez didn't speak to his foster family, he was unconditionally welcomed into their home and accepted by them. I did feel that the story rambled on a bit taking a bit too long to get to the real point, that is Prez coming to terms with being separated from his Grandfather, who was no longer able to look after him. I also felt that the ending was quite abrupt, leaving the reader to make their own assumptions about how Prez's life would turn out after all his adventures with Sputnik had ended.
