Railhead is a fast paced thriller that never fails to excite you.
When Zen Starling, a petty thief who steals to support his family, is captured by a mysterious man and ordered to steal an old family heirloom from the Noons, the largest corporate family in the universe, he is bound to get into trouble. Not only this, he is about to discover some truths about not only himself and his family but the 'Guardians' (so-called gods) and the universe.
Phillip Reeve's novel is flawless. While moving quickly with the plot, it gives you tons of details about this futuristic world without making you bored and instead making you want to read more and more. The characters were believable, the humans were utmost human and every move was as if it all had been done in real life.
The plot was gripping, it had the perfect balance between action and description, as well as telling you loads but still keeping quite a lot of mysteries.
This richly-imagined book is generally a must read for people over 10. I extremely enjoyed this book and wouldn't be surprised if it won the medal.
