Saint Death

Saint Death by Marcus Sedgwick- I had read books by this author before but his was something completely new, this book targeted the areas of poverty in Mexico and really got the message across as it was such a powerful book.I liked the elements of the Spanish language in the dialogue, it really gave a sense that this was alien to us and something we have never experienced but all the problems in the book- drugs, gangs and violence were a real world issue. The author sets the scene really well with lots of descriptive language to show the amount of poverty in this area of the world. The main character,Arturo, is a good person but cannot do anything about the corruption and violence around him. This book has some heart breaking twists and turns and scenes of violence but is a must read! 10/10
