The Stars at Oktober Bend
The Stars at Oktober Bend is the story of Alice and Manny who have both had troubled pasts. When they meet, they have a strong connection and form a lifetime bond. The book teaches some important lessons and reinforces morals. Forgiveness and not judging people on how they look or sound. The short sentences were very effective and gave me an understanding of the way things sound inside Alice’s head. The tale includes excitement, drama and moments where you don’t know how Alice is going to react. I particularly liked her poems and the way they were written. The ending was hopeful with Manny and Alice looking to the future together and moving on from what happened to them.
