Sputnik's Guide to Life on Earth
I personally, found this book enjoyable. That was until I thought about it, and maybe I over thought it... Sputnik's Guide to Life on Earth is about an anxious boy, named Prez. From what I could gather, Prez is a boy from a temporary care home and has been fostered by a family who lived on a farm. He then meets a "human" that is from outer space. However, his family see him as a dog... I thought that was really weird and I was like "What on earth?" So Prez is trying to teach this dog, who is apparently his brother because of the last name, how to be a dog... Yeah, that's weird and I thought that was just out of the ordinary. The alien then turns a toy light saber, into a real one... The dog/human/alien then casually slips into the conversation, "Oh yeah, did I not tell you. The world is about to end, and we need to stop that from happening" Overall, I had mixed thoughts about this book and I think it's definitely a book for younger readers, and not really a teenager book. Then again, that's just my expectations and I don't really want to take your good thoughts away from this book!
