The Bone Sparrow
This is a beautifully written book about a refugee named Subhi, who was born in and lives in a detention camp. He meets a girl called Jimmie who lives on the 'outside' of the camp and the pair become friends and the book focusses on their relationship. It's lovely to read about their growing friendship.
The book is very emotive and written from the perspectives of Subhi and Jimmie. The book is very realistic and it is this that makes the story quite upsetting.
The book is very relevant to current affairs and really makes the reader think about the lives of refugees and how hard life is for them.
An amazing read and one that you will not be able to put down. I highly recommend this to fans of 'The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas' as it is very similar.
