The Bone Sparrow
Whilst reading 'The Bone Sparrow', I have been on an emotional roller-coaster with the characters. The main character Subhi was such an innocent child, and seeing him grow up in such a rough part of the world was heartbreaking. Since I'm more mature than him, I was able to experience the events from both Subhi's untainted view, and my own, which understood what was happening better. The story itself was a message to people to never loose hope, and the author gave a shout out to all those who are lost in the dark. A story within the story is always significant to the main plot, and Jimmie's stories are a wonderful metaphor. I can't explain all the feelings I had - excitement, fear, compassion is a few of them - when I was reading this book. Even a single page could turn me up and down easily. Overall, I would recommend this book to anyone, really, and thought that it was written amazingly well.
