Felicity (Y12), Colyton Grammar School
Salt to the Sea
This book has a very gripping plot that intertwines 4 points of view from 4 people. However 'Alfred' seems rather unnecessary to the plot and frankly annoying.
Most characters are likeable and believable. However Emilia seems slightly underdeveloped and Alfred is more of an antagonist than protagonist.
The writing is simple and clear, but not too simple that it takes away from the depth of the story - made more upsetting by the knowledge that it is based on true events.
I really, really enjoyed this book and I felt it was a very moving story that is definitely worth reading.
I give it 9.5 out of 10.
