The Smell of Other People's Houses
‘The Smell of Other People’s Houses’ is a book about 4 very different teenagers (Ruth, Dora, Alyce and Hank) and their different perspectives on life. I picked up this book, due to the intriguing title and was pleasantly surprised while reading it as it has a gripping storyline. The stories themselves were quite fascinating and it was interesting to see all of the character’s lives intertwining towards the end of the book. I have never read a book from 4 people’s perspectives and I thought that I would find it confusing. Surprisingly it was not that confusing and the book was very easy to read. Even though I liked this book, I did not feel that Hank fitted in well with the story as he did not have many connections to the other characters, expect through his brothers. Overall it was an enjoyable read.
