Mrs Thomson, CSI Peterborough (Carnegie Shadowing Investigators)
I took this book home to read over the weekend before our shadowing group actually commences. Although I had been pre-warned, by the advisory notice, the bath scene did send some shivers down my spine. That said, I found the rest of the book is exquisitely written and Beck really came alive for me on the pages. I found myself praying for a happy ending for him, which I think does come about at the end. As myself(LRC Manager) and Mrs Roberts (English teacher) have both read it we have decided not to let the group read this book as it is primarily made up of Year 7 and 8, who are a long way off the 16+ recommendation from Carnegie. I will however encourage the Year 10's and above to read it and appreciate the quality of the writing.
