Salt to the Sea
At the start I found the four alternating perspectives very confusing. I had to flip back and forth to remind myself of who the characters were and what their story was; however, this did improve after I got into the book. I usually really enjoy books written from more than one perspective; however, I found that Alfred’s chapters were unnecessary and did not add much to the book other than at the very end. I tend to steer away from books set in the war but I was surprised as to how much I enjoyed ‘Salt to the Sea’. It was very moving and made me think about the emotional effects the war had.
