The Smell of Other People's Houses

The Smell of Other Peoples Houses, is a book based on a girl named Ruth in Alaska around 1970, her father has left her with her mum but she decided to move to her friends house. Her friend Selma comes into the book, she is adopted and is now living with Ruth. In my opinion this book is very complex and aimed at older children aged around 15-16. As the book continues more characters are added as they introduce their families, this leads to confusion because each character has their own personality. My favourite character was Ruth because I got the most information from her as she was the main character. I would rank this book a 4 honestly because around page 50 I lost interest, the front page originally looked intriguing and interesting but it was too confusing for me. I would recommend this book to anybody with a high concentration level who can keep with with the additional characters added every chapter.
