Salt to the Sea

The book "Salt to the Sea" ,by Ruta Sepetys, is set in the time period when the USSR invaded East Europe and East Germany. Our protagonists are all refugees from different areas trying to escape to the West. The story cycles between the different protagonists after each chapter. This constant cycling is a bit confusing when sometimes their actions are completely unrelated with each other and it is hard to keep track on everything. But this book is quite historically accurate and at the end it gets easier to keep track of things. As a side note the actual book smells of salt and the sea, which I think is a nice touch and helps to immerse you in the world and story of the book.
