Anna, St Helen and St Katharine
I personally didn’t enjoy this book very much as there was always too much dead space in which the reader knew something the character didn’t and it was very predictable. The book would been more engaging for me if it had been told from different perspectives as at it was hard for the reader imagine what Betty or Toby were really thinking. Also, as soon as I became attached to a character (Toby), the book ended! However, I understand that the author’s aim was to present a new outlook on the war where the people are still coming to terms with old scars that each person carries alone. I would not recommend Wolf Hollow to someone who likes action packed plots where you get to know each character’s motives and feelings, but on the other hand some people might really enjoy it and like the way the author has combined the dramatic aftermath of the war with a peaceful village.
