Salt to the Sea
I found the book very good and amazing in detail. It had great descriptions about the area around them and fit in with the atmosphere which was of terror because of the world war. The main characters are Florian, Emilia, Joana and Alfred. Joana was my personal favourite because she had a kind personality and was keen to help others because of her medical experience. Alfred was a selfish German character that only cared for himself even when he cared for a girl, he had sold her father by saying he was Jewish. I also really liked Emilia because she was a very nervous girl but noticed little details; she had a very nice personality and really like her 'knight' Florian, enough to keep his bag even when she was dying. Finally, I really liked Florian's character because he hid away his secrets and would not tell the others about them and from the start he secretly liked Joana. I didn't really like the ending because even though everyone survived except Emilia it kind of skipped over the ending and did not go into detail and how they survived. Even though it gives a sense of suspense I think the author could have given a more credible ending. Overall, I really loved this book and would rate it very highly.
