Mrs Davis, The Portsmouth Grammar School

The Stars at Oktober Bend

I found this book quite difficult to get into at the beginning, as it felt a bit fragmented and I was only reading short extracts each time but when I sat down with the book properly, it began to make more sense and hold my attention. I really enjoyed Alice's poetry and liked the way that it added depth and feeling to the prose writing.
I found the book quite emotionally draining, and am not sure if I would say that I enjoyed it, though I did think that it was very well written.
