Lucy, St Helen and St Katharine
Rail Head by Phillip Reeve is about Zen Starling, a self professed 'Railhead', who is forced to steal and trade to support his mentally unstable mother and sister. Zen is hired by Raven, a master criminal. Raven sends Zen on a mission to find the phyxis, a mystery box. Disguising himself as Tallis, a multibillionaires son, he meets Nova, Threnody and the hive monks.
I really liked this book as I think Phillip Reeve has described exactly how we all think the future would be. The K-Gate seemed very possible, and yet very surreal, as did the phyxis. I loved how millions of worlds were connected by one gate, and how Zen is supporting his mother. I usually don't like books where the main characters are criminals, but Zen had a reason behind all the thefts, and was very relatable. In my opinion, the best part of the book was the opening chapter, which was fast paced and thrilling.
Overall, I would rate this book a 9 out of 10.
