Salt to the Sea

Salt to the Sea is all about refugees in 1945 fleeing from the Russian troops invading Germany. There are four perspectives and they all seem to have a dark past. I find it interesting how in most books with refugees in the second world war it is normally, "We need to escape from the big bad Germans!" While in this book it is about people escaping from the Russians and the German army is their last hope for survival. By the end of the story all of the characters' whose perspectives we have been looking through are all in the same place. I ended up rooting for one character and I think you will do the same. Over all Salt to the Sea is an incredible book that everyone who isn't sensitive to death, murder and mentions of rape should pick up. 10/10
