Salt to the Sea

Despite the cover, this book is truly amazing.
It is about four young people who have been mentally scarred by war and the only way to reunite themselves with their families is one ship.
As soon as I started reading I was intrigued to see how the unusual structure of the book turned out and it did make a good novel. Personally I think it is one of the most interesting and addictive books I have read.
The chapters are from the point of view of the four main characters which is quite weird at first but you get used to it. The only downside to this is that you get such good knowledge of the characters you end up getting attached to them. Other than that, the book was well constructed and suitable for all ages but it would help if you had some knowledge of World War 2. Overall I think this is a great book and will be a strong contender for the Carnegie Medal.
