Sputnik's Guide to Life on Earth
Sputnik's Guide to Life on Earth is a childish, light hearted book. It is about Prez Mellows, a child from temporary. Prez is being looked after by the Blythes on their farm. One day Prez hears a doorbell ring by the Blythes' front door. He opens it and a strange boy wearing a kilt ,flying goggles and a large rucksack is in-front of him. The boy's name is Sputnik Mellows and everyone (apart from Prez) sees him as a dog. Sputnik can use telepathy to communicate With Prez. Sputnik tells Prez that the Earth and its Solar System is going to be shrunk to make way for other planets. He says that the only way they can stop the Earth being shrunken is to find 10 brilliant things on Earth. The problem is that Sputnik's ideas differ from Prez's (for example Prez's idea of Hadrian's wall gets turned into Hi-Vis jackets by Sputnik). The style of comedy is similar to Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Altogether I would recommend Sputnik's Guide to Life on Earth to anyone who liked the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and doesn't mind a more childish version of that.
