The first book I read for the Carnegie Shadowing Scheme 2017 shortlist was Wolf Hollow by Lauren Wolk. Typically, since it isn't my usual choice of genre, I wasn't expecting to enjoy the book. I read it first to 'get it out of the way'. However, this book completely exceeded my expectations and I would recommend Wolf Hollow to anyone I know. This mystery/drama is an absolute must-read and had me gripped every step of the way. To sum up the story (don't worry, no spoilers!),it is about a girl who has a not-so-(as she is thought to be)innocent bully called Betty and a stray soldier called Toby wandering the hills of her small, quiet town. She gets to know Toby and they soon become friends. However, Betty starts to spin out of control as she is prejudiced against Toby and blames him for her serious mistakes.
