The Smell of Other People's Houses

A heartfelt and honest depiction of love and loss, this story was everything I wanted it to be and more. It was a beautifully executed story that really captures the atmosphere of the Alaskan setting and the culture of the people who live there.
I know nothing about Alaska but I knew without a doubt that the descriptions were authentic and I felt like I was there in 1970s Alaska. The historical feel of the book was there and I enjoyed the slow pacing that I feel is unique to historical fiction. It was really beautifully done and progressed at what I thought was the perfect pace for this kind of story. I would really recommend this book. The plot is a bit hard to pick up on at first but once I got the hang of it, It turned out to be absolutely outstanding!!!!
