Amelia, Radnor House
Salt to the Sea
This book is incredibly moving and is about the four interlinking lives of Joana, Emilia, Florian and Alfred. Although this book had interlinking chapters narrated by the four main characters, the story and characters were well-rounded and developed, meaning I could understand the book without turning back pages.
The atmosphere of this book is great, and the author's depiction of East Prussia felt real and alive (even though I've never been there)
My favourite part of this book was the shipwreck because it sparked lots of emotion and for me, if a book with no pictures has vivid enough descriptions that I can perfectly imagine what is happening, then that book is very good and deserves its place on the Carnegie Shortlist.
