Mia, Sutton Girls
The dark and gripping tale of Wolf Hollow is told through the eyes of 12 year old Annabelle. Set during WWII, its the story of girl, whose idyllic farm life and friendship with an older war veteran named Toby, is threatened when a bully called Betty moves to the town.
This remarkable story is sure to stir your emotions with the way Lauren Wolk has written it. She has an understanding beyond her years and a strong belief on the way people should treat each other in the small community.
The protagonist steers the reader down an unwelcoming path as she takes many risks just to fight for what she believes in. Friendship and love is at the very heart of this story which reaches uncertain climaxes with tragic consequences.
I am desperate to know about the rest of Annabelle's story and how she finishes this adventure. If you have read 'To Kill A Mockingbird' you will love Wolf Hollow as for the same sort of reasons. I recommend this for children over 11 and adults as well.
