The Bone Sparrow

The Bone Sparrow is a touching cross over between fiction and non-fiction. Half of the time, it is written by Subhi, a refugee in an immigration detention centre. His writing is about stories, his friend Eli, his sister Queeny, his Maa and his hope to find his father.
The other half of the time, it is written by Jimmie, a mischievous girl with plenty of worries. She is from outside the camp and together they begin a beautiful friendship.
There is a story within a this story- maybe two now I think of it. I will leave one as a mystery but the other is the true story of millions.
I really liked this book but I'm not sure if the ending fits. I'd say this book is for older readers, eleven to fifteen.
It has great description and strong, clear characters. I would give this book nine out of ten as it is one of my favourites so far. So, what are you waiting for? Go on, read it!
