Beck

Beck by Mal Peet is a well written book but at points can be slightly upsetting to read because of the nature of the abuse suffered by Beck, however this is an important book as it raises awareness about abuse that is committed against children. The straight forward plot focuses on the abuse of Beck to show people the way that people with power can abuse other less powerful people. The book is filled with characters that have relationships which twist the plot dramatically. The use of Peet's simple yet excellent writing technique makes the story seem realistic and gives you the sense that you are actually watching the characters interact and live out the plot. This is a fantastically written and informative book.
