Sputnik's Guide to Life on Earth
Prez, a boy who's lost the ability to speak; Sputnik, an alien from outer space who most people believe is a dog. Put them together and you get a book full of madness, mischief and marvellous magic.
All his life Prez has moved from foster family to foster family, learning along the way that it's easier to listen in life than to use your own mouth, so when an alien/dog appears from outer space who can listen to Prez's thoughts instead of his few words, you can imagine his life turns upside down. Together Prez and Sputnik the alien-dog go on an adventure to save the world, and Prez's grandad, forming an unlikely friendship along the way.
This book explores family, friendship and fun in a way never done before, and lets you look on life in a different way. Although I did not enjoy this book I think it is a heart-touching tale that, for younger readers (aged 7-10) would be quite comedic (not for me!)
