The Smell of Other People's Houses
The Smell Of Other People's Houses is enlightening, as it shows what happened to Alaska after it became a state and how people's perspectives can vary from person to person. Ruth is raised by her grandmother and isn't very rich but has a fairly rich boyfriend. Dora is abused by her father and is staying with a welcoming family. Alyce is a dancer, her parents are divorced, so she lives with her mum and goes fishing with her father in summer. This year, she wants to audition for a dance college scholarship but the one problem is that it's on one of her precious summer days. What happens when all of their lives cross?
