The Bone Sparrow
A very moving book even at times heart breaking.
The stories of the inhabitants of the camp are harrowing - the deprivation, cruelty and everyday matter of factness about the loss of freedom, choice and family make this a difficult read.
The hope and sense of normal that Jimmie brings to Subhi - the hot chocolate that is shared, thus making life more bearable (if only for a short while).
But the most poignant moment for me is the loss of Eli, with the reminder that Harvey is only human after all.
Reminded me of The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas - although the end is very different.
Very well told and descriptively written
