Gladys, Malbank

This book, Railhead, by Philip Reeve, is an original, fast pace story with a gripping plot and many exiting developments.

The author described the time and place well, making sure we knew that it was set in the future, by introducing lots of technology that is hard to believe, such as a train that teleports from planet to planet.

The main character, Zen, was written well and was a thief by trade, however as the story unravels we found out his reasons, with a paranoid mother who is terrified of everything and a sister who is trying hard to provide for them all. As a result of reasons and problems, it makes the characters feel real, like they could live now, even thought it is set in the future.

This book I would recommend to a friend if they were into sci-fi, however if they are not into sci-fi it may be dull and unbelievable. I would give this book 5 out of 10.
