The Bone Sparrow

The Bone Sparrow book is a package of mixed emotions. You start with the confused thought as the story begins with the main characters not being introduced to the reader. Which triggers a curious mind towards them. The story is based around a boy called Subhi who lives in a detention centre. The detention centre has split the people into divisions where the people live in tents. Subhi lives in the family division with his mum who he refers to as Maa and his sister Queeny. He spends most of his days wallowing around with a boy called Eli who has been there much longer than him. They are under the watchful eyes of the guards referred to as the jackets, who will do anything in their power to make it a living hell. One night Subhi awakes to see a girl to his astonishment as he has never seen her around before. Another night he sees her again and they agree to meet each other regularly in a blind spot. When he meets her that night he notices a necklace around her neck, on closer inspection it's a sparrow; a bone sparrow. I would recommend this for 11+ because of the story being quite complex, however, I rate this as a good book and worthy a chance at winning!
